Installed at Space Mountain Gallery.

This piece was shown at Space Mountain Gallery Miami, as a part of my 10 Year Design and Architecture Senior High Reunion shown. The piece is a mirror of my high school concentration, which consisted of similar repeating eyes but was done primarily in drawn or painted mediums. “Eyes & Tulle” updates the original concentration to consist of currently-used mediums (fibers work).

Large center piece, isolated.

The large center piece in particular is my favorite, and took the longest of course (each eye takes ~ 1 hour). Here is an image of this piece, isolated.

Nearly complete.

Embroidery is complete! Remaining task is to trim tulle (which will be done at the gallery) and install.

Example of transparency.

I was especially excited to use tulle as a background fabric for this project. Aside from the implications of using something semi-transparent in a piece related to eyes and work I did ten years ago, the overall effect is striking.

Two down, thirty to go.

The first embroidery, done quickly prior to committing to project to confirm durability and usability of tulle as a base fabric for embroidery. I layered the tulle 4 times in order to achieve sufficient density and structure of the weave.
